Manna Rain
The catalogue of Rita Ackermann's 2024 exhibition at Fondazione Iris, Cy Twombly's former palazzo in Bassano in Teverina, published by the New York and Rome gallery Amanita in April 2025.
Amanita presented Manna Rain from 10 June to 31 July 2024 with the support of Hauser & Wirth: a suite of new paintings and works on paper, a film and a site-specific mural, Ubiquitous (Outside of Time and Space), three by ten metres in acrylic and soft pastel. The works grew out of Ackermann's long engagement with Twombly and turn on nature, divinity, mythology and poetry. The book gathers texts, plates and installation views, and opens with an introduction by Pamela Kort written in three parts, Rain, Freeze-Frame and Veil. Designed by American Art Catalogues, it runs to 194 pages at 30 by 25 cm, softbound, with a horse and rider drawn in black crayon across a grey-green cover.
Rita Ackermann (b. 1968, Budapest) lives and works in New York. Her recent solo exhibitions include Splits at Hauser & Wirth New York (2024), Hidden at MASI Lugano (2023) and Movements as Monuments at La Triennale di Milano (2018).
