Psychobuch 2 by Beni Bischof

Psychobuch 2

by Beni Bischof
Edition Patrick Frey · 2026 · Softcover

Psychobuch 2 is Beni Bischof's 2026 sequel to his 2014 debut monograph, a 752-page survey of the Swiss artist's drawings, paintings, sculptures, installations, and collages, published by Edition Patrick Frey.

The book gathers more than 1,700 color images. The publisher calls it a comprehensive but deliberately incomplete presentation of Bischof's output, one that also stands as an independent artist's book in its own right. It continues the appropriation-based practice of the first Psychobuch. Media images pulled from fashion magazines, pulp literature, and LP covers are reworked painterly, digitally, or mechanically into a visual language built from recurring motifs. The softcover volume, 31 x 23 cm, was designed by Bischof with Samuel Bänziger.

Bischof began publishing laser-copied artist's magazines in 2005 to distribute his drawings, collages, and texts before adding sculpture, painting, and installation to his practice. He is represented by Bänziger Hug and Galerie Nicola von Senger in Switzerland. His other books include the original Psychobuch (Edition Patrick Frey, 2014) and Meta Cars (Nieves, 2025).

Notes

Cover sourced from publisher's own product-shot photo (Canon EOS 5D Mark II, full-res original at /sites/default/files/2026-06/2026_05_psychbobuch2_cover_002.jpg, not the CMS-resized style variant). Cropped from a table product shot; a thin uniform background margin remains on some edges since the book was photographed at a slight angle. Artist's own site (benibischof.ch) found by guessing the domain and confirming via WebFetch, since the WebSearch budget was exhausted for this session. No birth year/nationality confirmed from an authoritative source, so description omits it rather than guessing.
