Nightfall

Giles Cassels' Nightfall collects overlooked, banal fragments of daily life and re-stages them as signifiers charged with private and cultural weight, closing a loop between waking perception and dream life.

Issued in spring 2015 as a 64-page color photobook, the volume is the second of a four-part quarterly series the artist self-published that year, following Floatation Tank. The edition was limited to fifty signed and numbered copies, several bound with an accompanying print.

The book sits within Cassels' ongoing practice of sequencing quiet, found-feeling color images into loosely narrative small-press volumes, distributed through specialist photobook shops rather than a formal publishing house.
