The Definitive Dlayn Songbook
The Definitive Dylan Songbook is a piano, vocal, and guitar songbook collecting arrangements of Bob Dylan's catalog, edited by Ed Lozano and published as an oversized, 788-page volume in 2001.
Amsco Publications released the book as a large-format collection of full notation, chord diagrams, and lyrics for songs spanning Dylan's recording career, making it one of the more complete single-volume song folios of his work available at the time. It functions as a performance and reference tool for musicians rather than a book about Dylan; there is no biographical text or commentary, only the songs themselves.
By 2001 Dylan's catalog already ran four decades deep, from his early-1960s folk records through the mid-1960s electric albums, the country and gospel periods, and into his 1990s and early-2000s work; a songbook of this size reflects the scale of that catalog. Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016 for his songwriting, the only time the prize has gone to a songwriter.
