Index #9: The Art and Theory Issue

The ninth issue of e-flux Index is built around one theme, the relationship between art and theory today and how each informs the other.

The 448-page volume is organised in two parts and eleven sections, from "Infrastructural Utopianism" to "Zhuangzi and the Butterfly," and brings together 92 artists, writers, architects, poets, psychoanalysts, filmmakers, educators and theorists. It was launched on 24 June 2026 at Spore Initiative in Berlin and printed in a limited edition in Porto. The cover carries the title in gold over a blue labyrinth of blackletter text with a small crab at its centre.

e-flux publishes Index in print and as a digital download. The print edition is distributed through Antenne Books, Les presses du réel, Art Metropole, The Book Society and Buchhandlung Walther König.
