Spray Can Sticker

A die-cut vinyl sticker reproducing Roy Lichtenstein's Spray Can (1963), produced by the Brooklyn studio Apply and sold by the Whitney Museum shop.

The sticker is screen-printed on premium vinyl and die-cut to the image: a hand pressing the nozzle of an aerosol can, drawn in Lichtenstein's flat outline and Benday-dot manner. It measures 2.3 by 2.75 inches and is one of four Lichtenstein images Apply produced under license from the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein, with Drowning Girl, In the Car and I Love Liberty. The Whitney stocked the set in 2026 ahead of its retrospective Roy Lichtenstein: Like New (October 11, 2026 to May 10, 2027).

Lichtenstein (1923-1997) arrived at his signature manner in 1961: subjects lifted from comic strips and advertisements, painted in flat colour with hand-drawn Benday dots. By 1964 he was among the most recognised and most contested of the Pop artists. The Whitney holds 460 of his works, including the Roy Lichtenstein Study Collection given by the artist's foundation.
