The Boys in the Baths
A 20-page separate printing of Ryan McGinley's portfolio from New York magazine's first men's style issue, photographed at the Russian & Turkish Baths on East 10th Street.
The issue came out on September 28, 2026. Senior men's style editor Samuel Hine and McGinley brought actors, writers and artists to the East Village bathhouse, and Miyako Bellizzi, the costume designer on Marty Supreme, styled the shoot with very little clothing. Troye Sivan, Elliot Page, Marlon James, and Mike Faist with Christopher Abbott appear on the four newsstand covers. The portfolio inside also includes Sam Nivola, Jeremy O. Harris, Eddie Huang, Rashid Johnson, Justin Peck and Francesco Clemente. This printing has its own cover, a close-up of a wet chest under the title The Baths by Ryan McGinley, and was issued in an edition of 1,000 copies. The full 89-page newsstand issue also carries reporting on the Chrome Hearts resale market and on Leo Dell'Orco, Giorgio Armani's longtime business partner.
The library holds four earlier McGinley books: Life Adjustment Center (Dashwood Books, 2010), The Journey Is the Destination (Purple, 2013), Way Far (Rizzoli, 2015) and the kids were alright (MCA Denver, 2017). Dashwood Books, which published the first of those, also offered this edition.
