Canal Zone Richard Prince YES RASTA 2: Appeal & Appendix is a 2013 book from Greg Allen’s greg.org that reprints the Appeals Court decision in Cariou v. Prince and the court’s illustrated appendix, which sets Patrick Cariou’s Yes Rasta photographs beside the Richard Prince paintings that used them.

The court’s appendix is a cross-referenced catalogue of each use of Cariou’s images in Prince’s Canal Zone paintings. It underlies the decision’s split of the series into 25 works treated as non-infringing and five still in question. Allen merged the court’s sets of Prince and Cariou images so that each painting can be read against its sources, and annotated them for easier reference. The court’s own documents are otherwise kept as prepared, including the highlights it added to Cariou’s images. The paperback has 142 black-and-white pages and measures 6 by 9 inches. The cover credits Allen as editor and annotator, dated April 2013.

It follows Canal Zone Richard Prince YES RASTA (2011), Allen’s compilation of documents from the first phase of the case: Prince’s deposition and affidavit, exhibits, both sides’ memoranda, and Judge Deborah Batts’s ruling for Cariou. Allen is an artist who runs the art blog greg.org. Prince’s paintings are the subject of the case, and Allen is the editor of both volumes.
