The Fug

The publication features "Thirteen Different Ways of Looking at Richard Prince," an essay by John McWhinnie. Prince, born in 1949 in the Panama Canal Zone, creates art exploring "peripheral aspects of American culture, both high and low." His work addresses subjects like jokes, vehicles, literature, and celebrity while "taking aim at the vulgar, revealing culture's indiscretions—misogyny, consumerism, exhibitionism and idealized desire." The book accompanied Prince's exhibition "The Fug," displayed at Almine Rech Brussels from September 10 to November 5, 2011.
