Artists collects photographer Jason Schmidt's portraits of contemporary artists, published by Edition 7L in 2006 and edited by Alix Browne and Christopher Bollen.

The 151-page hardcover gathers roughly a hundred studio portraits Schmidt made over several years, part of an ongoing project photographing artists in the spaces where they work. Edition 7L published the book as a first edition bound in tan cloth boards with black lettering.

Jason Schmidt's portrait work runs across magazines and books alike, and this project of photographing artists in their studios recurs throughout it. Artists, edited by Alix Browne and Christopher Bollen, gathers an early stretch of that project into a single volume, treating each artist's studio as part of the portrait rather than a backdrop to it.
