The Enigma Symposium 1995

The Enigma Symposium 1995 is the self-published proceedings of the third Enigma Reunion, convened and printed by Hugh Skillen in a small run at Pinner, Middlesex.

The 164-page volume, issued with illustrated green card covers and an eight-page preliminary section, collects the personal wartime accounts of Bletchley Park and Y Service veterans who worked in Allied signals intelligence during the Second World War. As with Skillen's other symposium volumes, the material is firsthand testimony gathered from reunion attendees rather than formal scholarship.

Skillen served in the Intelligence Corps during the war and later wrote a self-published trilogy on the Army's Y Service (Spies of the Airwaves, 1989; Knowledge Strengthens the Arm, 1990; Enigma and Its Achilles Heel, 1992) before organizing the annual Enigma Reunions and publishing their proceedings himself through the 1990s.
