Cloud Service (Special Edition)
Cloud Service is a special edition of Batia Suter's ongoing project of editing found photographic imagery into new sequences, issued through Roma Publications and Printed Matter in a first edition of 2019. Like Suter's other books, it works by re-photographing and recombining pictures pulled from existing printed sources rather than shooting new material, building a visual argument out of resemblance and repetition.
The special edition format sets this printing apart from a standard trade run, though the publisher's own listing for this copy does not specify what distinguishes it, such as a signature, a slipcase, or a smaller print number, so that detail is left open here rather than guessed at.
Suter trained as a photographer and has built her practice since Parallel Encyclopedia (2007) around the same method: gathering existing images and re-sequencing them until new associations surface. Cloud Service continues that line of work within Roma Publications' catalogue of artists' books.
