Kraftwerk 45 RPM

Toby Mott's Kraftwerk 45 RPM is a document of graphic design history read through the throwaway object of the 7-inch single sleeve.

The book reproduces Kraftwerk 45 RPM single sleeves and associated print ephemera assembled by Mott, presenting the group's cover art, national variants, and promotional material as a sequence of found design rather than a conventional discography. Published by Vinyl Factory Publishing in London in 2012, it appeared as a signed and numbered softcover edition, part of Vinyl Factory's program of small-run publications pairing music history with visual archives.

Mott is a British artist and collector best known for The Mott Collection, an extensive archive of punk, anarchist, and subcultural printed ephemera that he has exhibited and published under titles including Oh So Pretty: Punk in Print. Kraftwerk 45 RPM extends that same collector's eye for overlooked commercial graphics to a single band's record sleeves.
