Tomorrow's Man 4

The fourth volume of Jack Pierson's (b. 1960) Tomorrow's Man artist-book series widens the aperture, mixing imagery from all spectrums of the visual landscape into a single dizzying meditation on the world around us.

Published by Bywater Bros. Editions in 2017, edited and designed by Pierson with publisher Roger Bywater, the 104-page softcover threads the series' signature retro physique aesthetic through an eclectic roster: John Tottenham's antiquarian pen-and-ink sketches, Brian Calvin's hummingbird portraits, Liz Larner's ceramic constructions and Trevor Hernandez's deadpan street photography, joined by Cali Dewitt, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Lily Stockman, Richard Tinkler and Evan Whale. A limited hardcover edition of 100, each with an original signed and numbered photograph by Pierson, accompanied the trade printing.

Pierson emerged from the Boston School alongside Nan Goldin and Mark Morrisroe and has made the artist's book a recurring vehicle for a practice spanning photography, collage and found-letter word sculptures his work is held by the Metropolitan Museum, the Whitney and the Guggenheim. All six Tomorrow's Man volumes are held in this collection.
