Automated Photography
Automated Photography is a 343-page research volume on images that machines make on their own, and on what that does to photography.
Milo Keller, Claus Gunti and Florian Amoser edited it. Its starting point is that for about twenty years photographers have been folding machine-made images into their work, a shift from capture in the strict sense toward appropriation and automated, computational methods. The book sets that shift in the longer history of photography and visual culture, and it also tests the technologies in practice, looking at their technical and aesthetic challenges.
Texts are by Emmanuel Alloa, Marco de Mutiis, Simone C Niquille, Felix Stalder and Anne-Katrin Weber, among others. The conversations include Morehshin Allahyari, Nora Al-Badri, Paolo Cirio, Heather Dewey-Hagborg and Alan Warburton, and Joël Vacheron is credited for the interviews. It is a paperback of 20 × 25 cm.
