You Can Count On Me
You Can Count On Me is the zine catalogue for the group photography show that opened 205 A, the short-lived project space Aaron Stern and Jordan Sullivan ran in a vacant storefront at 205 Avenue A in the East Village in September 2014.
Curated by Stern and Sullivan and published by 205-A, Brooklyn, in 2014, the softcover zine gathers nine New York photographers: Aaron McElroy, Andreas Laszlo Konrath, Ben Rayner, Jim Mangan, Aaron Stern, Brian Merriam, Samantha Casolari, Jordan Sullivan and Daniel Arnold. The cover is a photograph of a woman face down in white sheets, her hair across the pillow, with the title set over it in pale lowercase type. Inside, the work runs a few pages per artist, from a grid of photobooth-style portraits to street and studio pictures. A second edition followed in 2015. Both were sold through Dashwood Books and ICP and are out of print.
205-A lasted little more than a season, but its zines record a loose circle of New York photographers who were also publishing each other through Dashwood, S_U_N and Pau Wau. The library holds McElroy's Sweet and The Devil May Care, his Briney Breezes with Charles Johnstone, and Konrath's Tupsu (V1).
