Apartamento Issue 16
Autumn/Winter 2015, built around Donald Judd: a trip to Las Casas, his Texan ranch, with Flavin and Rainer Judd, and a collection of his everyday-life objects, alongside AA Bronson in Berlin, Denise Scott Brown in Philadelphia and Gary Panter on being weird.
Alix Browne visits Flavin and Rainer Judd at Las Casas to talk about growing up Judd. Michael Bullock meets AA Bronson in Berlin, Jim Walrod finds Matt Connors in New York City, Amelia Stein talks space and work with Denise Scott Brown, Leah Singer visits Gary Panter, Albert Moya photographs the sculptor Xavier Corberó in Barcelona and Yorgo Tloupas visits the house of Philolaos at Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse, where everything the artist did not like he designed himself. Arquitectura-G open with the Hellscraper in Madrid. David Douglas Duncan's photographs of the private world of Pablo Picasso are reprinted, Jean-Philippe Delhomme paints a portrait of a house, Guillermo Santomà writes that to create is to destroy, Anna von Löw considers curation, Jorge de Cascante contributes "Sea, swallow me" and Marlene Marino "Heaven in hell's despair". The materials study is paper.
The Featuring list also names Arielle Holmes and Fernando Higueras. Judd's furniture and his ideas about how a space should be arranged sit close to what Apartamento has always been about, which is why the magazine gave him most of an issue.
