Autumn/Winter 2021-22, with Soisy and the Sphinx, the homes of Niki de Saint Phalle, alongside Paa Joe in Accra, Fritz Haeg at Albion, Luigi Serafini in Rome, Joan E. Biren's portraits of lesbians, and an essay by Paul B. Preciado on living with Matta.

Leah Singer visits Saint Phalle's houses at Soisy-sur-École and Pescia Fiorentina, and Gemma Janes meets Nathalie de Saint Phalle in Naples. Adjoa Armah and Elaine Yj Lee talk to the coffin-maker Paa Joe, Susana Vargas Cervantes to Joan E. Biren in Washington DC, Michael Cukr to the painter Katherine Bernhardt in St. Louis, Fabio Cherstich to Luigi Serafini, Michael Bullock to Fritz Haeg, Jazmine Hughes to Topaz Jones in New York City, Emanuele Quinz to Gianni Pettena in Fiesole, Francis Upritchard to Lisa Walker and Karl Fritsch in Wellington, Natalia Torija Nieto to Jose Dávila in Guadalajara, Zdenka Badovinac to Roman Uranjek in Ljubljana and Brendan Embser to Paul Moakley. Pettena also writes about his cabin on Elba, Biren's "Eye to eye" is excerpted, and "To Craft a Life" gathers conversations with Bikôkô, Carlota Guerrero and Ouka Leele. Zebadiah Keneally's graphic novel reaches chapter two. The materials study, this time, is shit.

Biren's Eye to Eye: Portraits of Lesbians (1979) was reissued in 2021, which is what put her in this issue; she returned in issue 30 with a piece called "At Home".
