Esopus Issue 25

Esopus 25 (Spring 2018) is the final issue of the magazine Tod Lippy had edited and designed since 2003.

It has artists' projects by Noriko Ambe, Paolo Arao, John Edmonds, Elizabeth Ferry, Tina Barney and Anish Kapoor. Francine Prose writes on the painting Saint Anthony the Abbot Tempted by a Heap of Gold, with a poem by Zbigniew Herbert. Also in the issue are song lyrics and artworks by Lonnie Holley, a script by Faith and Jill Soloway, a feature on Timothy Leary, a feature on the Teatro Povero di Monticchiello, a studio visit with Randy S. Jones and the ninth Guarded Opinions. The 100 Frames series takes stills from Force Majeure, with an essay by Alex Witchel, and Modern Artifacts 18 is introduced by Michelle Elligott. The CD, Jokes, is introduced by Demetri Martin.

The nonprofit Esopus Foundation suspended the magazine in September 2018 and turned to books, events and distribution. Across twenty-five issues Esopus carried no advertising and kept editorial framing to a minimum, so that the work reached readers directly.
