Useful Photography #003 is made from photographs of missing people, given by their families and friends to the National Missing Persons Helpline for use in public appeals.

The publisher notes that these studio portraits, snapshots and passport photographs may have seemed unremarkable when they were taken. Each now stands in for a person who cannot be found. The issue mixes color and black-and-white reproduction and is a softcover, collected and edited by Hans Aarsman, Claudie de Cleen, Julian Germain, Erik Kessels and Hans van der Meer.

The previous issue, #002, collected pictures of goods for sale. Here the pictures are of people, and their job is a public appeal.
