Paintings 2 Loyal Gallery Stockholm 2021

New Paintings 2 is the book LOYAL, Stockholm published in 2021 to document Eddie Martinez's exhibition at the gallery that spring, gathering eleven works from the show in a limited edition of 600 copies.

The 92-page book reproduces the paintings shown at Loyal, Stockholm, Sweden, from 20 March to 15 May 2021, and includes writing on the work drawn from the exhibition text. The title marks it as the second in a series of exhibition books LOYAL has produced with Martinez, cataloguing a discrete body of new work rather than a career survey.

Martinez's practice moves between paintings built up in oil, acrylic, and spray paint on linen and looser drawings in marker and sharpie on paper, and this small-run gallery book sits alongside catalogues from his other dealers as a record of one specific show rather than a retrospective account of his career.
