Sasquatch Century
Sasquatch Century is a midcareer survey of the Norwegian photographer Torbjørn Rødland (b. 1970), published by Walther König in association with Mousse Publishing.
The book gathers a selection of Rødland's photographs from the past twenty years, guiding readers through a visual language that sits deliberately on the border between the constructed and the authentic — carefully staged images that nonetheless read with documentary conviction. Essays by curators Linda Norden and Milena Høegsberg accompany the plates in this 152-page hardcover, illustrated with 56 colour images.
Rødland has exhibited internationally since the 1990s, developing a body of work known for its uncanny mix of formal photographic control and unresolved, often uncomfortable subject matter — bodies, objects and interiors photographed with a straight-faced intensity that resists easy reading. Sasquatch Century is among the fullest surveys of that practice to date.
