Nudes: Curated by Julien Dossena
Nudes is a fashion-photography publication commissioned as a deliberate response to Jean Clemmer's 1969 monograph Nues, a book of female nudes styled in Paco Rabanne's sculptural metal and plastic garments.
A Magazine Curated By's editor Dan Thawley asked Julien Dossena, Creative Director of the house of Paco Rabanne, to curate a contemporary answer to Clemmer's book. Dossena in turn commissioned the photographer Coco Capitán, who shot the series at Villa Noailles, the 1920s Robert Mallet-Stevens estate above Hyères, using contemporary and archive Paco Rabanne pieces and her own accompanying poems. The 100-page softcover, published in a limited edition of 1000 in 2016, also carries a dialogue between Dossena and Thawley on nudity and eroticism in fashion imagery.
