SPBN: Self Publish, Be Naughty
Self Publish, Be Naughty is an anthology assembled under the Self Publish, Be Happy imprint, edited by Bruno Ceschel, bringing together self-published photographic work from a wide roster of contributors.
As with other Self Publish, Be Happy projects, the book operates as a survey of independent and self-directed photographic practice rather than a single-author monograph, collecting images and contributions submitted directly by the photographers involved rather than commissioned or curated through a conventional publishing house.
Self Publish, Be Happy was founded by Bruno Ceschel in London to champion self-publishing as a mode of photographic practice, running workshops, an archive and a series of anthology publications of which this is one; the project has been influential in framing self-publishing as a legitimate and widely practiced strand of contemporary photography rather than a fallback to institutional publishing.
