V-Boom
V-Boom is the catalogue for Raymond Pettibon's 2006-2007 survey exhibition, shown first at Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga and then at the Kestnergesellschaft in Hannover, collecting drawings and text-based works from an artist who moved from punk-scene flyer art into major museum surveys.
Kehrer Verlag published the bilingual German/English hardcover in 2007 to mark the exhibition's run at CAC Málaga (22 September to 3 December 2006) and the Kestnergesellschaft (16 February to 6 May 2007). At 271 pages with numerous color plates, it includes contributions from Kestnergesellschaft director Veit Görner, CAC Málaga's Francisco Javier San Martín and Fernando Francés, and curator Aaron Rose.
The tour landed the same year Pettibon took part in the Venice Biennale, and the catalogue sits alongside his other institutional surveys, for MACBA, the Whitney, and Kunsthalle Wien, as a record of his path from hand-drawn Black Flag and SST Records flyers in the late 1970s to the ink drawings and appropriated literary text that built his reputation in contemporary art.
