Purple Fashion Magazine Issue 2 (Volume III)

by Purple Magazine
Purple · 2004

Fall/Winter 2004, the second issue of Purple Fashion, built around two long interviews on cinema and a Balenciaga portfolio made under Nicolas Ghesquière.

Gus Van Sant talks to Geoffrey Cruickshank-Hagenbuckle and Olivier Assayas to Matthieu Orléan and Olivier Zahm. The art interviews are John Armleder with Stéphanie Moisdon, Tim Griffin with Dike Blair and Slavoj Žižek with Josefina Ayerza. Fashion runs from Corinne Day's "An English Garden" and Mark Borthwick's "All Around Kim" to Katja Rahlwes on Julia Stegner and Masatumi Sanai's "Age and Innocence," with beauty by Richard Kern, Camille Vivier and Jean-François Lepage. Rita Ackermann contributes collages, Richard Prince a "Birdtalk" portfolio and Christopher Wool a special project shot with Jeff Rian in his New York studio in 2004. Justine Kurland's "Deep America" and Giasco Bertoli's "Reservists" close out the documents.

The issue also carries architecture writing on Rome's lost modernity and mobile architecture, a habit of running buildings alongside clothes that Purple has never given up.
