FESPA Digital / FRUIT LOGISTICA

FESPA Digital / FRUIT LOGISTICA is a 2012 artist's book of Wolfgang Tillmans's photographs from two trade fairs, the Berlin produce convention Fruit Logistica and FESPA Digital, a digital printing fair.

Tillmans visited Fruit Logistica, the leading annual convention of the international fruit trade, in February 2011. He has said the displays, the range of the trade and its processing machinery left him open-mouthed, that he photographed at once and set the pictures aside to see them at a distance, and that he thought of an artist's book in the format of Concorde from the start. The distributor's description counts 66 colour photographs from the fair, published here for the first time. The 144-page paperback from Walther König has text by Tillmans in German and English.

Artforum, reviewing a Tillmans exhibition, describes a wall work, Fespa Digital/Fruit Logistica Grid (2012), made of 128 offset pages from the book. It sets shots from the printing fair beside similar ones from the produce show.
