Sprengel Installation
Sprengel Installation is a slim 2007 booklet documenting how the Sprengel Museum Hannover hung a group of Wolfgang Tillmans photographs newly entering its collection.
Published as the second volume in the museum's "Beiträge zur Sammlung" (Contributions to the Collection) series, the 44-page paperback records an installation built around acquisitions made through the Stiftung Sammlung Bernhard Sprengel und Freunde des Sprengel-Museum Hannover, with loans from the Hannover Rück-Stiftung and a private Hong Kong collection. The text is by Inka Schube.
The booklet dates from seven years after Tillmans's 2000 Turner Prize win, a period when German museums were actively adding his work to their permanent holdings; it reads less as a monograph than as the museum's own record of how it chose to present those pictures within its galleries.
