Wolfgang Tillmans is the Phaidon Contemporary Artists Series monograph on the German photographer, in a revised and expanded edition of the book first published in 2002.

Phaidon describes Tillmans as known since the early 1990s for photographs of young people in their social surroundings, among them clubs, gay pride parades and warehouse parties. This edition adds a survey of his work from the previous ten years and new writings by the artist. The writings include excerpts from early and recent interviews, his own account of the video piece Lights/Body (2002) and examples of his artist’s books. Tillmans’s bibliography credits texts by Johanna Burton, Midori Matsui, Caroline Stephen, Jan Verwoert and Tillmans, with interviews by Stuart Comer, Peter Halley, Nathan Kernan and Neville Wakefield. Phaidon lists the book as a 240-page hardback.

Tillmans was born in Remscheid in 1968 and studied at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design from 1990 to 1992. His bibliography records the Turner Prize in 2000, and he lives and works in Berlin and London.
