Purple Magazine Issue 38: The 30YRS Issue
Fall/Winter 2022, the thirtieth anniversary issue, organised as thirty numbered parts, one for each strand of the magazine's history.
The parts run from Elein Fleiss, who co-founded Purple in 1992, through Martin Margiela, who contributed new collages, and on to Wolfgang Tillmans, Comme des Garçons, Purple Tokyo, Purple New York, Chloë Sevigny, Maurizio Cattelan, Bernadette Corporation, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Rita Ackermann, Inez and Vinoodh, Glenn O'Brien, Dash Snow, Juergen Teller and Richard Prince. Purple Cinema gathers David Lynch, Larry Clark, Wes Anderson, Harmony Korine, Gaspar Noé, Gus Van Sant, Abel Ferrara, Mamoru Oshii, Kenneth Anger and Philippe Parreno. A thirteen-part section on women and painting runs alongside. Catherine Deneuve appears in Saint Laurent and Chikashi Suzuki shoots "Black Rose" for Comme des Garçons.
