Neo Rauch: Renegaten

Renegaten is the catalogue for Neo Rauch's 2005 exhibition at David Zwirner in New York, his third solo show at the gallery, with a text by the art historian Christine Mehring.

The exhibition presented ten large canvases populated by workers, students, military men and other characters, set against ordinary architecture, industrial scenes or strange, barren landscapes. The 40-page softcover reproduces twenty works in color and measures 22.2 x 28.8 cm. Mehring is a writer and professor of art history at the University of Chicago.

Rauch was born in Leipzig in 1960, lives there, and studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst. His first show with David Zwirner was in New York in 2000, and the gallery has represented him since. Later solo shows there include Heilstätten in 2011 and At the Well in 2014.
