Neo Rauch Schilfland: Works on Paper by Wolfgang Buscher (2009-09-01)
Schilfland gathers works on paper by the German painter Neo Rauch, accompanied by a text and interview with the writer Wolfgang Büscher.
Published by Prestel in Munich and New York in 2009, the bilingual German/English volume runs 315 pages with color illustrations throughout, drawn from three decades of Rauch's drawing practice.
Rauch studied figurative painting under Arno Rink at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, one of Germany's oldest art academies, where he later taught, and is identified with the Leipzig School of painters that gained international attention beginning in the 1990s. He works without preparatory sketches, producing drawings during intense painting sessions rather than as studies for specific paintings; Prestel published a second collection of his drawings, Neo Rauch & Rosa Loy: Hinter den Gärten, in 2011.
